Abu Simbel – Temples of the Sun

Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s most awe-inspiring sites, carved into rock cliffs by Pharaoh Ramses II. The Great Temple features four massive statues of the pharaoh guarding the entrance, while inside, incredible carvings and columns celebrate his victories and honor the gods.
Twice a year, during the Sun Festival, sunlight aligns perfectly to illuminate the temple’s inner sanctuary, creating a magical event that attracts visitors worldwide. The nearby Temple of Hathor, dedicated to Queen Nefertari, is equally impressive.
Abu Simbel’s story is also about preservation: in the 1960s, the entire site was relocated piece by piece to save it from flooding by Lake Nasser. Visiting here is like stepping into both history and legend.#AbuSimbel #SunFestival #RamsesII
