Tsuruga Castle & Samurai History Intensive Course (Half-Day)
This is a core course that delves into Tsuruga Castle, a symbol of the Aizu Domain's history and samurai spirit, and the surrounding historic sites.
• Morning/Afternoon (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): All About Tsuruga Castle
• 9:00 AM: Arrive at Tsuruga Castle (鶴ヶ城, Aizuwakamatsu Castle) and tour the castle walls and moat. Climb the red-tiled castle tower for panoramic views of Aizuwakamatsu City.
• 10:00 AM: Visit the castle museum and learn about the turbulent history of the Aizu Domain, including the Boshin War and the Byakkotai (White Tiger Corps). • 11:30 AM: Stop by the historic teahouse **Rinkaku** within the castle park and take a break while experiencing a traditional **tea ceremony**.
• Lunch (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM): Enjoy local Aizu cuisine such as wappa-meshi (rice cooked with rice) at the **Tsurugajo Kaikan** near the castle or at a nearby restaurant.
