Shymbulak Ski Resort

Shymbulak Ski Resort is located on a high hill in the Le-Alatau National Park in Almaty. From the city center, you can call a taxi via the YandexGo app, which is the taxi app in Kazakhstan (you should download it when you travel to Kazakhstan) to the Medeu Cable Car. It doesn't take long from the city center to reach the cable car station that will take you up to Shymbulak Ski Resort. From this station, you can take the cable car for 3 stations until you reach the end of the cable car, which is located on the Zaiilisky Alatau mountain range at an altitude of 3200 meters. From here, you can take a cable car for skiers to continue. This cable car is considered one of the longest cable cars in the world. At the top, at the stop of every station, there are restrooms and restaurants. Small cafes are located at every station.

There are many activities for you to try here, such as skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. From this point, if you walk a short distance, you will see the holiday home of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This resort was given as a gift by the President of Kazakhstan. Putin liked it so much that Nursultan Nazarbayev gave it to him.
