The Van Gogh Museum showcases the works of Van Gogh, a somewhat unconventional painter who spent his life deeply exploring his own inner selves and the inner lives of others. While Van Gogh's life was certainly far from that of a master, after his death, he became one of the Netherlands' leading artists. Understanding his turbulent life and appreciating the evolution of his artistic style is a key aspect of the museum. It has four floors, and the central staircase is quite unique, offering a panoramic view of the museum's corridor-like interior. It features a large museum shop and is one of the most impressive buildings in the area. A must-see when visiting Amsterdam!
