Tucked away in the quiet corners of Angkor, Ta Som is a hidden jewel that feels like a lost world. Built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, this small yet enchanting temple was dedicated to his father — and today, it’s famous for being partially embraced by the jungle.
The star attraction? A massive sacred fig tree (similar to Ta Prohm) that has completely engulfed the eastern gopura (gate) — nature and history locked in an eternal embrace.
Far less crowded than other Angkor temples, Ta Som offers peaceful exploration, detailed carvings, and a powerful sense of time standing still.
🛕 Why Visit?
Famous for its tree-wrapped gate, perfect for photos.
Features classic Bayon-style architecture.
Peaceful and less touristy than nearby temples.
Rich bas-reliefs and beautifully preserved towers.
Feels like discovering a secret temple in the jungle.
Ta Som isn’t just a place to visit — it’s a place to get lost in, where roots, stone, and silence tell the story of a forgotten era.
