🌟Highlights: Ankang thrives by the Han River's blessings. The city was first built north of the river during the Spring and Autumn period, then relocated to the south bank during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Despite frequent floods and wars, it remained an important administrative center. In 1583 AD, a great flood destroyed the city, leading to the construction of a new city at the foot of Zhaotai Mountain. The old and new cities became a major hub where "ships sailed up and down, sails gathered in rows, connecting Hanzhong upstream, Hankou downstream, Sichuan to the south, and Xi'an to the north, with all goods converging - truly the great metropolis of southern Shaanxi."
