World Heritage Wooden Mosque

#2024Travel Review
Ahî Şerafeddin Camii, also known as Aslanhane Camii, in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, is listed as a World Cultural Heritage. This mosque is a Seljuq mosque built in the 13th century. Its most distinctive feature is the mix of wooden craftsmanship and Roman building materials. Wooden columns, colorful tiles, wood carvings, stone carvings, Roman capitals, etc. are all highlights. There are mosques all over the country, and most of them are made of stone. Although it is not magnificent, it is really special.
"Ahî" is an honest trade association. In the Islamic world, it advocates integrity and doing business with integrity. Şerafeddin is a personal name. As for "Aslanhane" meaning House of Lions, the reason is that the Roman-era lion sculptures can be seen on the outer wall, but they seem to have disappeared.
