[Ankara] One-day city walking plan centered around Ankara Castle

Did you know that the capital of Turkey is Ankara, not Istanbul? When you think of Turkish cities, you probably only think of Istanbul or Cappadocia...

If you ever live in Turkey, you'll want to choose Ankara as your base of operations, as it's easy to get to anywhere and has a wide range of options. You can get to most of the north, south, east and west by bus from this city.

Cities you don't expect often turn out to be a hit. I came to Ankara for a layover, but it's become one of my favorites.

📍Ankara Castle
The castle walls are at the top of the city, and the atmosphere and scenery are great. On the walls, old men and women are selling handmade items in a line, which is cute. When they beckon you to look and tell them, you can't help but look!

Prices are cheaper than Istanbul, and there's the bustle of people living there, so I liked the bustle of this non-tourist area!

📍Anatolian Civilizations Museum
The museum is large enough that you can see everything in about an hour.
There were cute clay figures and sphinxes, which was a strange feeling. You can also learn about civilization.

📍Bazaar
I really enjoyed my favorite market, looking at spices, fruits, and buying sweet Turkish sweets. I was holding my camera and the guy posed for me to take a picture of him, nice!

At the hostel, the sweets I bought at the market were soaked with syrup that they dripped all over me (lol)

📍Kocatepe Camii
The smooth walls of the mosque were also great!
The smoothness was amazing, so I sat on a bench and just kept looking at them (lol)

The transportation in Ankara was also great!
I love the trams. It's great for tourists that you can get on the train and bus by tapping your MasterCard!
