Lake Annecy is simply breathtaking—a sparkling turquoise lake surrounded by the French Alps. I biked the scenic path circling the lake, stopping to dip my feet in the water at hidden coves. The medieval town of Annecy, with its canals and pastel houses, gave the whole visit a fairy-tale feel. On the water, I tried paddleboarding while paragliders soared above the mountains. The balance of activity and beauty makes Lake Annecy magical. Evenings brought lakefront dinners with views of the peaks reflecting in the water. Pure alpine charm at its best.
