20+20 explores the intellectual universe spanning two decades of Natee Utarit, an artist who creates a dialogue between East and West through the language of timeless paintings.
The exhibition "20+20" celebrates the 20th anniversary of Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA), a leading contemporary gallery in Southeast Asia, and also marks two decades of Natee Utarit's artistic journey.
Natee Utarit is a contemporary Thai artist whose unique style fuses Western painting techniques, particularly the Renaissance and Baroque periods, with Asian philosophical, cultural, and religious concepts. He uses art as a tool for thinking, questioning authority, belief, and interpretation of history. He often re-arranges familiar religious symbols, objects, or scenes to create dialogues between faith and doubt, the sacred and the mundane.
The "20+20" exhibition features a selection of works from key series over the past 20 years, ranging from his early experiments with still life and symbolism in Western art to large-scale paintings that engage with themes of religion, morality, and humanism.
The exhibition will be held at three RKFA locations: Bangkok, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. This exhibition aims to convey the connection of dialogue across borders, similar to Natee's work's concept of the meeting of Eastern and Western cultures.
This exhibition not only showcases the artist's work over 20 years ago, but also celebrates the artist's long-standing relationship with RKFA, which has grown together in the contemporary art scene in the region. It also serves as a reflection and extension, reflecting that art never stands still, but is driven by endless thought and questioning.
