Located 17 kilometers south of Huoshan County in western Anhui Province , Fuziling Reservoir is a large valley reservoir in the Huaihe River basin. The reservoir dam is located 2.5 kilometers south of Foziling Town , hence its name. According to the Huoshan County Annals of the 31st year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty ( 1905 AD), this area was originally called " Fosiling , " from which the name Foziling evolved . Construction of the reservoir began in January 1952 and was completed in November 1954 .
