Sunset Over Ruins: A Day in Side, Turkey

Visiting Side was like stepping into an open-air museum by the sea. This charming coastal town on the Turkish Riviera blends ancient ruins with vibrant beach life. I started my day exploring the iconic Temple of Apollo, dramatically perched by the water — the perfect backdrop for sunrise or sunset photos. The remains of the ancient theatre were equally impressive, offering a glimpse into Roman life with views stretching across the modern town.

Wandering through the old town’s narrow streets, I found cozy cafes, local shops, and friendly locals offering fresh pomegranate juice and handmade goods. Later, I relaxed on one of Side’s sandy beaches, with the warm Mediterranean breeze and turquoise waves creating a perfect afternoon.

What made Side truly memorable was this unique mix of history and leisure — where you can swim in the shadow of ruins and end the day with grilled seafood while watching the sun sink behind ancient columns.
