Atami City in Shizuoka Prefecture is not only famous for its hot springs♨️, but also has a mysterious and powerful attraction - Kurimiya Shrine. This shrine attracts countless tourists with its long history and magnificent natural landscape, especially its sacred tree "Okusu" that is more than 2,000 years old.
The core attraction of Kurimiya Shrine is the sacred tree Okusu inside the main shrine. This giant tree has a trunk circumference of 23.9 meters and a height of about 26 meters. The plant is designated as a national natural monument and is known as the "second largest tree" in Japan, second only to the Kamamo plant in Kagoshima Prefecture. Standing in front of it and feeling its vitality for thousands of years, one can’t help but feel in awe🥰.
Next to Okusu, there is the resting place of "Okusu Five Colors No Mori". This is an ideal place for tourists to take a break. Here you can taste Shizuoka's matcha🍵 and exquisite snacks and enjoy a relaxing time.
Kurimiya Shrine is considered a power spot in Japan, attracting visitors seeking spirituality and tranquility. Many people come here to pray for peace and happiness and to connect with this ancient forest. Walking on the trails of the shrine, the surrounding natural environment makes people feel peaceful, as if time has stood still here☺️.
