Lake Reschen: The most famous feature of the area is Lake Reschen (Reschensee in German, Lago di Resia in Italian), an artificial lake created in 1950 for hydroelectric power. The lake is known for the prominent 14th-century bell tower of a submerged church that rises from the water, which is a popular photo motif and a symbol of the region's history.
Historical Significance: The pass was historically part of the Via Claudia Augusta, an ancient Roman trade route and an important connection through the Alps.
