The story of the creation of the world, the "Kuni-omi Shinwa" (Myth of the Creation of the Land), is written in the Kojiki.
The oldest shrine in Japan, which enshrines the god that appears at the beginning of the story, is located on Awaji Island.
I wanted to visit the historic Izanagi Shrine at least once, so I visited Awaji Island to combine a trip to a hot spring with a trip to a hot spring.
After passing through the large torii gate, there is a wide approach to the shrine, and I went straight ahead.
The blue sky spread out before me, and it felt very divine!
After praying, I strolled around the grounds.
A large and magnificent camphor tree caught my eye.
It is said to be the "Couple Camphor Trees," a natural monument designated by Hyogo Prefecture that is about 900 years old.
It was originally two trees that merged as they grew.
It's amazing! It's moving to see it in front of you.
After enjoying a stroll for about an hour, I headed to the hot spring inn.
I definitely recommend visiting this place on your sightseeing course.
