Kek Lok Si Temple – Penang’s grandest Mahayana temple

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck

After going down from Penang Hill, we stopped by Kek Lok Si Temple, the largest Mahayana temple in Penang and one of the most beautiful temples in Southeast Asia.

🌟 Getting there:
It is recommended to take the inclined lift up because the walk is quite steep and far. It just so happened that there were a lot of tour groups that day, so we had to wait in line for a while. But if you walk up the stairs yourself, you definitely won't be able to do it!

🏯 The beauty of the architecture:
What makes this temple special is the perfect blend of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture. The buildings and pagodas are decorated with Chinese patterns. Inside, there are pavilions and statues of various deities that are exquisite.

🙏 Highlights:
• A large Guanyin Bodhisattva, over 30 meters high, is located on a hill and can be seen from a distance.
• The Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, with countless Buddha statues, beautifully arranged.
• The Turtle Pond, which is believed to be a symbol of wealth and longevity.

🛍️ Souvenirs and the surrounding atmosphere:
On the way up to the temple, there are souvenir shops selling carved Buddha statues, amulets and various accessories, including red lanterns, a symbol of good luck. For those who want to pray or add positive energy to their lives, this is a must-visit destination!

✨ Summary:
Kek Lok Si Temple is not just a sacred place, but also a landmark that showcases the great art and culture of Penang. Anyone who visits must take the time to pay homage and fully appreciate the beauty of this temple!
