Banda Aceh is a necessary transfer point for diving on Weh Island.
It only takes an hour and a half to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Iskandar Muda Sultan International Airport.
The e-visa is approved online in seconds, and there's no need to queue for entry, super convenient! From the airport to the city center, Grab is within 80,000 Indonesian Rupiah, but! Grab cars don't enter the airport's arrival area. You need to walk to the parking lot exit.
3. If you have a lot of luggage, you can bargain with the drivers at the exit. It's not much more expensive, 100,000 Indonesian Rupiah will get you to any hotel in the city center!
4. Attractions
Since it was just a transfer, I casually strolled around, but two places left a deep impression on me!
First is the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, Banda Aceh's landmark building. The white dome is magnificent, and it stood firm during the 2004 tsunami. Remember to wear long sleeves and pants when visiting! This is required for entry!
