Wat Bang Phli Yai Klang is located on the north bank of Khlong Samrong, Tambon Bang Phli Yai, a short distance from Wat Bang Phli Yai. It was built around 2367. Locals called it Wat Klang, and later changed to Wat Rat Sattha Tham. Worship the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand, and admire and apply gold leaf to the “heart of the Buddha” once in a lifetime. These are the strategies of Phra Khru Phisan Wuttikit, the abbot of Wat Bang Phli Yai Klang, who built Somdet Phra Sakyamuni Sri Sumet Bophit, a reclining Buddha statue, in 2521. The length from the top of the head to the feet is 26 wa, 1 sok and 9 inches, or approximately 53 meters, 7.5 meters wide and 18 meters high, to attract Buddhists to make merit at this temple. Until people called it from Wat Klang to Wat Phra Non. Because of its enormous size, the interior of the Buddha is divided into 4 floors for religious activities, such as meditation rooms, rooms for enshrining 500 Arahants, paintings of hell and heaven, and many sacred Buddha images. The highlight is on the 4th floor, which contains the relics of the Buddha that were invited from Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1987, and the room where the heart of the reclining Buddha is enshrined, the only one in the world. People have flocked here to gild the heart of the Buddha until it shines yellow. Diamonds, gold, and other valuable amulets are embedded around the temple. In addition, the temple is open for worship of Luang Por Suriya, the principal Buddha image in the chapel decorated with golden stucco patterns and Naga stairs, which Buddhists can walk "under the chapel" for good fortune. Under the chapel is the main nimit ball. Along the walkway, there are murals telling the story of the life of the Buddha to remind us. After worshiping the Buddha, sit and relax or feed the fish at the Atthakowitwuttikun Pavilion. Take in the peaceful and cool atmosphere under the shade of religion at Wat Bang Phli Yai Klang to the fullest. Open for visits every day.
