Wat Saket
.. is an ancient temple from the Ayutthaya period, originally named Wat Sa Kae. King Rama I ordered its restoration and the digging of a canal around the temple, then renamed it Wat Saket, which means 'to cleanse the hair'.
.. During the reign of King Rama IV, the temple was redesigned to include a chedi on top of a man-made hill, enshrining the Buddha's relics. The construction was completed during the reign of King Rama V and was named 'Suwannabanphot'.
