When you think of Bangkok, temple tours come to mind. In Thai, 'Wat' means temple, and there are countless temples with names starting with 'Wat' across the country! Here are three famous ones to check out:
① Wat Paknam (Photos 1 & 4)
Also known as the Emerald Temple, this stunning temple shines like emeralds, making it a popular spot for social media photos.
Inside, the atmosphere is very sacred, and you can see people sitting and praying in front of the tower. It is said that walking clockwise around the tower three times will make your wishes come true. Give it a try! ☺️
Outside, there is a massive golden Buddha statue standing 69 meters tall ✨. The statue is in a meditative pose 🧘.
It’s easily accessible via MRT and a short walk.
② Wat Arun (Photos 2–4)
One of Thailand's three major temples, known in Japan as the Temple of Dawn. The white pagoda, when viewed up close, is surprisingly colorful and adorned with intricate decorations.
Around Wat Arun, renting traditional Thai costumes and taking photos with a Thai vibe is very popular!
At night, the temple is illuminated, and the view from the opposite side of the river is stunning. There are also dinner cruise plans to enjoy the night view, so consider booking a tour!
③ Wat Pho (Photo 6)
Located on the opposite bank of Wat Arun, Wat Pho is another of Thailand's three major temples. Its official name is said to be so long that it’s hard to remember!
The highlight of Wat Pho is undoubtedly the giant reclining Buddha. This golden statue is 15 meters tall and 46 meters long, lying down in a relaxed pose. Seeing it up close is truly impressive and quite amusing!
By the way, the feet of the statue are 3 meters tall and 5 meters wide. Be sure to take a commemorative photo with them 😂.
These three must-visit temples 🛕 are highly recommended. Don’t miss them!
