Information on the Emerald Green Wat Paknam

This time, we’re introducing a famous tourist destination in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭—Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen! Admission is free! While Bangkok’s three major temples typically charge at least 200 baht (around $5.50), free entry is definitely a bonus ☺️.

Located in the Phasi Charoen district, this royal temple holds historical and religious significance. It was founded during the Ayutthaya period in 1610 and has played an important role in Thai Buddhism over the years. Particularly in the early 20th century, under the guidance of meditation master Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, the temple was revitalized as a center for meditation and education.

- The Giant Golden Buddha:
Completed in 2021, this golden Buddha statue stands approximately 69 meters tall, making it one of the tallest Buddha statues in Bangkok and a symbolic feature of the temple.

- The Famous Emerald Green Structure:
The five-tiered pagoda, standing 80 meters tall, houses an emerald-colored glass stupa, Buddha relics, and statues of revered monks inside.

🚗 How to Get There:
The temple is located in Bangkok’s Phasi Charoen district and is accessible via public transportation. The nearest station is MRT Bang Phai Station, about a 15-minute walk from the temple. You can also reach it from a pier along the Chao Phraya River. 🚕 Most visitors opt for taxis to get there.

Since there aren’t many tourist attractions nearby, it’s recommended to plan for taxi transportation.

ICONSIAM is a large shopping mall located along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, featuring global brand stores, restaurants, and cultural facilities. Access:
- Taxi: About 7 minutes (6.6 km), costing approximately 90–120 baht.
- Bus: About 27 minutes, costing approximately 17–24 baht.

🎨 The Artist’s House (Baan Silapin):
Baan Silapin is an art space housed in a traditional Thai-style building, offering visitors a chance to experience local art and culture. It’s especially known for traditional puppet shows and art exhibitions, making it a popular spot for tourists.

🚤 Long-Tail Boat Canal Cruise:
A long-tail boat cruise through Bangkok’s canals offers a close-up view of local life and scenery. Tours departing from Wat Paknam often include stops at spots like Baan Silapin.
