Wat Don Mueang: A Modern Handicraft Treasure in an Ancient Realm

Wat Don Mueang, located near Don Mueang Airport, is the first Thai temple many travelers encounter. Although this temple is not as grand as royal temples, it stands out for the deep faith of the local people. What’s more interesting is the cluster of small stalls and shops beside the temple that specialize in handicrafts and religious items, making it a beginner’s paradise for Buddhist souvenirs.
I picked a small bag made with traditional Thai weaving techniques, embroidered with symbolic totems representing Wat Don Mueang. The colors are rich yet tasteful. Additionally, there are handmade sandalwood prayer beads, Thai-style portrait notebooks, and spice blend packs, all designed with a blend of practicality and cultural meaning, definitely worth checking out. These souvenirs are neither flashy nor commercialized but carry a solid and sincere local feel, making them the most touching keepsakes on a journey.
