🏘Wat Ratcha Orasaram Ratchaworawihan, a first-class royal monastery, originally named Wat Chom Thong. Later, Prince Jessadabodindra (King Rama III) reestablished it because when he led the army to intercept the Burmese army at the Three Pagodas Pass, upon arriving at the temple by naval forces, he stopped to rest and performed the war victory ritual according to the military manual. He prayed for success in this military campaign.
🏘It turned out that no Burmese army advanced. Upon returning, he renovated and dedicated it as a royal monastery, receiving the new name Wat Ratcha Orasaram. It is considered the temple of King Rama III.
Important and interesting features inside the temple include:
🏠The Ubosot (ordination hall), the first architectural building transformed from traditional style to "royal style," a blend of Thai and Chinese art. It houses Phra Buddha Anantakun Adulyanabophit, the principal Buddha image, a large bronze Buddha statue in meditation posture, the first large Buddha image established by King Rama III.
⛺The Viharn of the Reclining Buddha houses Phra Buddha Saiyas Naratchanin Chinsakaya Borom Somdet Sanphet Buddha, a large reclining Buddha image.
🏚The Standing Buddha Viharn is a hall without a surrounding corridor, housing a standing bronze Buddha image in the posture of granting forgiveness, believed to be from the U Thong period.
