Hainanese chicken rice must be at Montien Hotel

Montien Hainanese Chicken Rice (360 THB/set) The chicken is very tender and thick, juicy, with a choice of drumstick, thigh, or breast. No fishy smell, lightly fragrant with sesame oil.

The rice is cooked perfectly, not soggy, with a mild Singaporean-style brownish color. The broth is mild and easy to sip, but it should be served a bit hotter.

There are 4 types of dipping sauces: fermented soybean, dark soy sauce, sesame oil with ginger, and dark soy sauce with chili. Personally, I like the sesame oil with ginger the most—very fresh and fragrant!

There are also other dishes like fried radish cake, thick and full of flavor. The fried oyster felt a bit too oily, and the dim sum menu during lunchtime, such as xiao long bao, shrimp shumai, and fried taro, is excellent.

Atmosphere: The restaurant is elegantly decorated, bright and spacious. Large tables, comfortable seating, up to hotel standards.

The price is quite high, but it’s worth it for the atmosphere and the generous portions. One set of chicken rice can easily be shared by two people. For takeout, there is an additional packaging fee, making it 415 THB.
