Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit

Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit Ratchaworamahawihan
🙏 Considered one of the important temples of the capital city, Bangkok, it is a first-class royal temple, one of the six royal temples of the highest class in the country since the Ayutthaya period. The ordination hall features traditional Thai architecture with a multi-tiered roof decorated with chofah and bai raka. The principal Buddha image, Phra Si Sanphet, in the Mara Vichai posture, is enshrined as the main Buddha image in the ordination hall.

🙏 The Golden Chedi Sri Rattana Mahathat is a small chedi enshrined in the mondop, situated on a wooden busabok. Inside it contains the Buddha’s relics, which is the origin of the temple’s name.

🙏 The Royal Candle Sword, originally a dragon sword, with the blade being a Japanese katana, was the royal weapon of Somdet Phra Bovornrajchanok Mahasurasinghanat. Towards the end of his life, he decided to offer the sword as a “candle holder” to be used for Buddhist worship in front of the principal Buddha image before his passing.
