Worship at Wat Phaya Uthai

🏘 Wat Uthaitharam is located along the Eastern Railway Road. Locals call it Wat Bangkapi because it is situated by the Bangkapi Canal.
🛕 It is believed that around 1767 B.E., Phaya Uthai fled from the Burmese army and buried treasures at the stupa, which is thought to have been built along with the temple and stupa during this period.
🙏🏽 In 1944 B.E., the stupa was destroyed by an explosion, revealing various antiques such as bronze amulets with red rust, flag finials, anchor bases, Buddha statues for worship, and relics. The Fine Arts Department has registered these items, leading to the assumption that this temple was built by Phaya Uthai, hence the temple's name.
Important and interesting features inside the temple include:
🏠 The ubosot (ordination hall), a brick and mortar building, with a wooden carved pediment depicting Narai riding a Garuda. The door and window arches are plastered with pudtan vine patterns and decorated with Chinese porcelain. The doors and windows are carved with vine motifs.
🙏🏽 Inside the ubosot are a brass Buddha statue from the Sukhothai period and a bronze Buddha statue from the Singha one Chiang Saen period.
🏕 The viharn (assembly hall) is smaller than the ubosot, with a wooden carved pediment showing Narai riding a Garuda. The door arch is crown-shaped plaster decorated with vine patterns, and the door and window arches are plastered with pudtan patterns.
🙏🏽 Other features include the Buddha footprint shrine, swan pillars, drum tower, and bell tower.
