The crispy breading and tender meat of the tonkatsu are highly praised, offering an authentic taste of Japan.
* Price: Slightly expensive compared to the general cost of living in Thailand.
* Atmosphere: Clean and tidy Japanese restaurant ambiance, popular among locals and Japanese patrons.
I visited Katsushin Surawong in the Silom area because a friend of mine had recommended it, saying it was delicious. The restaurant greeted us with a Japanese vibe and Japanese staff.
The prices were similar to those in Korea, with an additional 7% VAT noted. We ordered two loin tonkatsu (rosukatsu) and salmon.
The sesame sauce reminded me of Saboten, which I hadn’t seen in a while. The salmon was thick, fresh, and brought a smile to my face with its flavor. Although I thought of having beer, I opted for a zero cola since it was midday.
As part of the set menu, rice, miso soup, and pickles were served alongside the main dishes.
The loin tonkatsu had a crispy texture on the outside and juicy meat inside, which was absolutely delicious. I personally preferred eating it with wasabi rather than sesame sauce—it was incredibly tasty and reminded me of the tonkatsu from Tonshow in Busan. It seems like a great place to enjoy a drink in the evening.
I didn’t get a chance to check out the second floor, but I’d like to dine there next time if I have the opportunity.
