Introducing Tongchuan Painting and Calligraphy Academy

The Tongchuan Academy of Painting and Calligraphy is the only fully funded calligraphy and painting institution in Tongchuan City. With a sub-county structure, it is affiliated with the Tongchuan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication. It is an academic institution integrating calligraphy and painting research, creation, exhibitions, exchanges, collections, and public education. Founded in 1995, the Tongchuan Academy is located on Zhengyang Road in the New District of Tongchuan City (behind the lecture hall).

The Tongchuan Academy of Painting and Calligraphy consists of an office, a creative research department, and an exhibition department. With an approved staff of 10, the academy currently employs seven full-time painters (Zhang Gang, Zhao Qing, Lü Bing, Liu Ning, Luo Xiaobao, Hong Ming, and Zhang Hailiang), including one National First-Class Artist, three National Second-Class Artists, and three National Third-Class Artists. The academy also has two administrative staff and 24 contracted calligraphers and painters. The academy's first president was Liu Genji, and the current president is Zhang Gang.
