I recently visited Wat Khamma Tuyaram, a treasure trove of architectural beauty within walking distance of Bangkok's hustle and bustle, and I'd like to share some tips on how to efficiently explore the area.
Approximately a 12-minute walk from MRT Hua Lamphong Station, the journey takes about 30 minutes, allowing you to experience the intricate decorative techniques of traditional Thai architecture up close.
Admission is free, and the early morning hours of 8:00-10:00 are the best time to visit, with fewer tourists, making it the perfect time to photograph the temple's beautiful architecture.
The highlight is the intricate stone reliefs on the gate, where you can admire the intricate craftsmanship in every detail.
The white chedi (stupa) within the temple grounds, a symbol of Wat Khamma Tuyaram, retains its 19th-century architectural style and its contrast with the blue sky makes for a beautiful photo spot.
A local food stall area is within a five-minute walk, making it the perfect spot for sightseeing.
Traveling to Chinatown is also easy, making for an efficient half-day trip, combining architectural beauty, local cuisine, and the historic district.
