Taipei Travel: Tamsui Red Castle

If you ask where the most beautiful scenery in Tamsui can be seen, many locals would probably answer 'Tamsui Red Castle.'

The red brick Western-style building, built over 100 years ago, was a symbol of wealth during Tamsui's prosperous era of trade and shipping. Standing here, you can enjoy a wide view from west to east, including Guanyin Mountain, which is also known as the 'Mount Fuji of Taiwan.' This is why it was also called 'Dakanlou' (Observation Tower).

The first and second floors house Chinese restaurants, while the third floor has a café. It has become a model for the utilization of historical sites in today's Taiwan.
