Wat Suan Phlu is located in the alley of the Shangri-La Hotel.
The chapel of Wat Suan Phlu is not very large. The outside of the chapel is decorated with stucco work decorated with glass. The upper part of the chapel has stucco moldings of angels and fairies, which looks beautiful and unusual. Behind the pavilion, there is a Thai-style pavilion in the middle of a pond called "San Phra Bodhisattva Kuan Yin", which is highly respected by people in this area. The word "Suan Phlu" comes from the area around the temple. In the past, the Chinese grew betel as a profession because people in the early Rattanakosin period liked to chew betel to make their teeth strong and beautiful.
The highlight from the moment you enter the temple is the group of monks' huts, which are two-story wooden houses decorated with fretwork on the entrance balcony and the roof to protect from the sun between the balcony antennas. It also received an award for good architectural conservation from the Association of Siamese Architects in 2002.
