Driving along 318, heading west towards Chamdo, I turned a corner and Ranwu Lake suddenly came into view.
There’s no need for complicated descriptions; it just looks incredibly soothing—the lake water is a clear blue-green, and although the nearby mountains are bare, they actually make the lake’s color stand out even more. On a good day, the clouds in the sky and the distant snow-capped mountains are all reflected in the lake, as if the entire clean sky has been captured inside it.
No matter where you stand by the roadside to take photos, every shot looks like a masterpiece. When the wind blows, the lake surface sparkles, and staring at it for a while makes all the fatigue from driving melt away. The “shock” of 318 is no exaggeration—every sight you see is simple and beautiful, leaving you speechless and wanting to stay a little longer.
