Lower Ranwu Lake, also known as Anmu Cuo, is the longest section among the upper, middle, and lower parts of Ranwu Lake, and the only part close to G318.
Previously, we shared the stunning autumn colors of the middle and upper Ranwu sections with friends, but we didn’t expect the lower Ranwu autumn scenery to have its own unique charm.
🍂 Autumn colors of Ranwu Lake
The middle and upper sections are the source of the Parlung Tsangpo River, near glaciers. Here, autumn is marked by fiery red shrubs contrasting with snowy mountains and glaciers.
The downstream area is at a relatively lower altitude, where tall forests replace low shrubs between the mountains. Here, autumn is characterized by golden colorful forests set against pure white snow-capped mountains, each with its own distinctive features.
When we arrived, the lake’s light was not as shimmering as in winter, but it had turned from turbid to clear. Combined with the colorful forests and snowy mountains, it perfectly showcased the autumn scenery pinnacle of the Tibet section of G318.

🍂 How to fully enjoy the autumn?
❶ Of course, find a suitable parking spot, then walk as close to the lake as possible.
❷ Recommend two lesser-known autumn viewing spots. Most tourists choose to visit the Basu Ranwu International Self-driving RV Camping Site for the view. But it’s crowded and not easy to get close to the lake, which affects the experience.
Caicaijuan’er recommends friends continue driving along G318, explore deeper into Waba Village (five-star rarity), or park at an unnamed parking area further ahead in Waba Village and walk along a small path to the lakeside (three-star rarity).
❸ Aerial photography. Using a drone at the two lesser-known spots above, it’s easy to capture exclusive iconic autumn scenes of Lower Ranwu Lake.
