📞Hello Hello, I hear you and I'll answer.
✨️The Batu Caves were originally natural caves, but were transformed into a religious site by K. Tampusami Pillai, a Tamil Nadu merchant who previously built the Sri Mahamriyamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur. He noticed the cave entrance, which resembled the letter V, and wanted to build a temple to Lord Chandakumar.
✨️In 1890, the statue of Lord Chandakumar was enshrined in the cave, now known as the Devalaya Cave. Since 1892, the annual Thaipusam festival has been held here.
✨️In the 1920s, a wooden staircase was built to the temple, later replaced with a concrete staircase. Currently, there are 272 concrete steps leading up to the cave.
✨️In 2018, they began painting all 272 steps, each a different color.
Open daily, no admission fee.
