Batu Caves Kuala Lumpur

Batu Caves is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a limestone hill with a series of caves and cave temples, located approximately 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur.

The caves are considered an important religious site for Hindus and also attract visitors from various backgrounds due to their natural beauty and cultural significance. The site is most famous for its massive golden statue of Lord Murugan, which stands at the entrance of the caves. The statue is the tallest of its kind in the world, measuring approximately 42.7 meters (140 feet) in height.

To access the main cave temples, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps. The journey up the stairs can be physically demanding, but the reward is a stunning view of the surrounding area and a sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top.

There are three major caves within the Batu Caves complex: the Cathedral Cave (or Temple Cave), the Art Gallery Cave, and the Museum Cave. The Cathedral Cave is the most well-known and houses several shrines and Hindu statues.

Visitors can take a short train ride from the city center to the Batu Caves Komuter station, which is located just a short walk away from the caves.
