Batu Caves is a must-visit and must-check-in spot in Kuala Lumpur for worship, blessings, and amazing photo opportunities. It is a Hindu religious site located in a magnificent natural limestone cave, distinguished by a huge golden statue of the deity Murugan standing tall at the entrance, along with a 272-step rainbow-colored staircase leading up to the cave mouth. This is a symbol that everyone must take a photo with. When you reach the top, you will find the large main cave called Cathedral Cave. Inside, the cave is spacious and grand, with a very high ceiling. Sunlight shines down on the deity and various sacred objects enshrined there, creating a holy and reverent atmosphere. You can walk around and pay respects or ask for blessings from the different deities at your convenience. Additionally, there are other caves to explore, such as the Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, which display statues and paintings that tell stories from Hindu scriptures. Another charm of Batu Caves is encountering the large troop of macaque monkeys living around the stairs and caves. They are friendly but quite mischievous, so don’t forget to be careful with your valuables. To get to Batu Caves, you can take the KTM Komuter train on the Port Klang Line from KL Sentral station and get off at Batu Caves station. It doesn’t take long. Whether you are a devotee of Hinduism or an admirer of beautiful architecture, this place is highly recommended.
