Beijing Summer Palace: Perfect for a Half-Day Trip for Seniors!

At the end of this trip, I visited the Summer Palace in Beijing. Listening to the tour guide's introduction felt like watching a palace drama.

🚴Transportation Tips: Beijing is vast, and you should trust the travel times indicated by 'Gaode Map' because it can take a long time. For those using public transportation, take the subway 'Line 4 Daxing Line' to 'Xiyuan' station, then walk a bit to reach the 'East Palace Gate of the Summer Palace,' which is the most popular entrance and less likely to get lost from here. If you find it troublesome or are traveling with seniors, just take a taxi directly. Taxis in Beijing are very cheap, so you won't have to walk at all. Highly recommended for group travel 👍

🙋🏼This time, I hired a one-to-two tour guide. As someone with social anxiety, it can be a bit awkward when I don't feel like listening since the guide can only talk to me or my companion. However, the guide can provide very detailed introductions and answer any questions, which I found very helpful!

The lake view in the Summer Palace is incredibly beautiful. Autumn is truly a great season for travel. Watching energetic Chinese aunties taking photos in their group uniforms made me feel their happiness, and it was contagious. The guide highly recommended us to climb Longevity Hill (the one with the tower), but this attraction requires an additional ticket. After several days of walking, I was too tired to climb stairs, so I just enjoyed the scenery and breeze outside. This place is very suitable for seniors, who will find it very comfortable, like the perfect retirement life should be.
