Elegant Rain‑Calling Dragon Temple in Summer Palace

#chinatravel
The Guangrun Lingyu Temple, often called the Dragon King Temple, sits on Nanhu Island in Summer Palace’s West (Kunming) Lake. Originally built to pray for rain, it was renamed by Emperor Qianlong after its prayers proved effective. Flanked by willow trees and classic Ming-Qing architecture, this surprisingly peaceful spot still echoes old traditions of harmony between nature and royal ritual.
