I took a wrong turn and ended up inside a gallery made entirely of mirrors. That’s when I stopped trying to navigate.
798 Art District isn’t meant to be seen on a schedule. It’s meant to be wandered, stumbled through, and felt deeply. I gave up the map and let instinct lead me—past a bicycle wrapped in yarn, through alleys splashed with rebellious murals, into minimalist galleries where silence said more than the art.
What amazed me most was how alive it all felt. Not polished, but pulsing. Artists painted in open studios, dogs napped by clay sculptures, and strangers shared seats at open-air cafés.
It wasn’t just about seeing something beautiful. It was about being present inside creativity itself. In 798, getting lost is the whole point.
