Getting there:
* Leave Beijing around 7:30 to 8:00 in the morning to avoid traffic and crowds
Transport options:
* Hire a private car or driver for convenience
* Use a taxi or ride-hailing app like Didi, takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each way
* Take public transport:
* Go to Dongzhimen Station by subway
* Take Bus 916 Express to Huairou North Avenue
* Transfer to a local taxi or minivan to reach Mutianyu entrance
Tickets and access:
* Tickets can be bought at the entrance or booked online
* Extra options available:
* Cable car or chairlift to go up
* Toboggan slide to come down
* Shuttle bus from main gate to the base of the wall
Exploring Mutianyu:
* Quieter and more scenic compared to other sections
* Well-restored path with steep climbs and towers
* Spend about 2 to 3 hours walking the wall
* Best photo spots between towers 14 and 23
* Bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and good walking shoes
Lunch options:
* Several restaurants near the entrance catering to visitors
* Option to eat at a local place in Huairou on the way back
* Can also pack a light meal to eat on the wall
Returning to Beijing:
* Start heading back around 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon
* Expect to return to your hotel by 5:30 to 6:30
