Yuan Ming Yuan

Yuanmingyuan, also known as the Old Summer Palace, is a site filled with both beauty and melancholy.

Once an imperial garden of incredible splendor, it was destroyed in the 19th century, and today its ruins tell a powerful story of history and loss. Walking through the vast grounds, with tranquil lakes, lotus ponds, and the remains of European-style palaces, I was struck by the contrast between the peaceful scenery and the weight of the past.

The park is less crowded than other major attractions, making it ideal for a reflective stroll or even a picnic. It may not have the intact grandeur of the Summer Palace, but its quiet atmosphere and historical significance make it deeply moving.
