Discover the cultural heritage! If you're looking for traces of history, Beijing is the place to be!
Why recommend it? Beijing's ancient city area preserves the most historical buildings and cultural traditions! Every brick 🧱 and tile tells a story that never gets old! Although booking attractions can be a bit challenging nowadays, and subway transfers might take some time, slowing down 👣 to soak in the atmosphere will always lead to unexpected surprises at the next stop! The Forbidden City is indeed hard to book, and visiting Tsinghua and Peking University campuses requires reservations a week in advance. While booking through WeChat can be tricky, staff mentioned that international visitors can make reservations via email a week ahead, which is much more convenient!
For local delicacies, Niujie Street is a must-visit! Don't ask which shop is the best—I’ve tried them all, and every single one is delicious! The key is fresh ingredients and a commitment to making food on the spot or on the same day. Here's the highlight: you definitely won't get an upset stomach unless you overeat! (It's the tastiest street I've experienced at tourist spots.) Of course, remember to prepare snacks in advance when exploring Beijing, as you'll need plenty of energy—expect to walk at least 30,000 steps daily! 🤦♀️ As a mom trying to save money, I carry 10 bottles of water when heading out because food and drink vendors aren't everywhere, especially at places like the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, and Shichahai. Summer visits can be overwhelming, with half an hour spent squeezing in and another half hour squeezing out due to the crowds. These spots are truly best enjoyed during the off-season (winter ❄️), offering a stunning and romantic 🌹 experience that feels like all promises are fulfilled and wishes come true.
For accommodations, choose places near subway stations, as buses don't support family cards, and the subway is much more convenient. Taxis in the ancient city can be hard to hail due to the crowds, and bicycles often get you there faster!
Finally, a reminder for those planning a trip to Beijing: start your research at least half a month in advance, book attractions and accommodations a week ahead, and then bring along your loved ones or those who love you for an unforgettable journey 🛫! Embark on a time-traveling adventure! Perfect for independent travelers and family trips.
