Autumn Charm in Beijing Suburbs: The Millennium Tranquility and Seasonal Whispers of Yingshan Pagoda Forest
Looking to escape the city's hustle and find a peaceful spot? Deep in the mountains on the outskirts of Beijing, Yingshan Pagoda Forest holds the most enchanting answer to autumn. Here stands a group of ancient pagodas from the Liao Dynasty, dyed by the season into a colorful painting, each glance a gentle embrace of history and nature.
As autumn arrives, Yingshan Pagoda Forest transforms. The golden ginkgo trees grow tall, their leaves shining dazzlingly under the sun. When the wind blows, golden leaf fragments fall on the eaves of the ancient pagodas, like a thin veil draped over thousand-year-old buildings; the pines and cypresses remain richly green, while the oak trees quietly don orange-red attire. Acorns hanging from the branches attract squirrels hopping about in search of food, adding a lively touch to the tranquil mountain.
To fully enjoy this beauty, take the winding mountain path on the west side: climb up to the viewing pavilion to take in the entire pagoda forest in the valley. The ancient pagodas appear faintly among the colorful leaves, full of the vicissitudes of time. If you want a broader view, climb to the “Duchu Yunxiao” peak at an elevation of 726.81 meters. Standing at the top, looking at the distant rolling mountains and the shadows of pagodas below, you can appreciate the ancient builders’ ingenuity and enjoy the exhilaration of “seeing all other mountains as small.”
As a rare, lesser-known secret spot in the Beijing suburbs, autumn here never sees crowded crowds—only pagodas, trees, and the wind quietly accompany you through a slow passage of time.
