Forbidden City Beijing Tour

After completing the trip to Xi'an, Henan, I took the high-speed rail to Beijing West Railway Station and started a two-day trip to Beijing.

We booked the New BenQ Hotel, which is just a 5-minute drive from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The rooms are spacious and decorated in traditional Chinese style. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. Qianmen Street is only a few minutes' walk away. The price is only over 500, which is very convenient and affordable.

The next day we went to visit the Forbidden City. The place is so big that it seemed like it would take forever to walk around. The weather in October began to get cooler, and it was a unique experience to feel the grandeur of China's last imperial dynasty in this slightly cool weather.

In the afternoon, I visited the Temple of Heaven, which is located in Dongcheng District and was the place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices to heaven, prayed for good harvests and prayed for rain. It is the largest and most ethically advanced sacrificial architectural complex in ancient China. There is a huge forest behind it. Every tree is of uniform height and size, and the distance between trees is the same. It has a rigorous layout, unique architectural structure, and gorgeous decoration. It cleverly applies the principles of mechanics, acoustics, and geometry, and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese architecture.

Finally, we went to Wangfujing Street to eat snacks and visit famous shops, ending our short two-day trip to Beijing.
