Check-in at Kalemegdan Fortress in Serbia

Kalemegdan Fortress, built during the Ottoman Empire, is one of Serbia's first officially declared cultural monuments.

Located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, 'Kalemegdan' translates to 'fortress battlefield.' Kalemegdan Fortress is considered one of the best-preserved urban fortresses in the world.

An ancient fortress, a witness to history. Kalemegdan Fortress, more accurately described as a stronghold, features numerous gates within its walls. Alongside the massive stone walls, you can find weapons like cannons and tanks left over from World War I and World War II.

As a former important military base, the fortress bears the marks of different eras, including the Roman, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian Empires. It's definitely worth a visit!
