Visiting the Zytgloggeturm (Clock Tower) in Bern was like stepping into a living piece of history. This iconic medieval clock tower is right in the heart of the old town, and it instantly draws your attention with its ornate astronomical clock and charming facade. We arrived just before the hour to watch the mechanical figures do their little performanceāitās not flashy, but definitely charming and steeped in tradition.
Walking around the area, the cobbled streets and historic buildings add to the atmosphere. Itās amazing how well-preserved everything is. The tower used to serve as a prison and later a clock tower, and knowing that added a layer of appreciation to just standing there admiring it.
We didnāt go up the tower this time, but even from the outside, itās a standout landmark. Great for photos, especially with the trams and locals passing byāit really gives you a sense of daily life mixing with heritage.
A must-visit stop while exploring Bernās Old Town.
