The Barat 🪸

We stayed at The Barat on Perhentian Besar and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing spots we’ve visited. Our chalet was tucked just a few steps from the beach, with a small balcony where we could sit and watch the sun set into the sea each evening. The vibe was peaceful and unpretentious, no loud crowds, just the sound of waves and the occasional hornbill flying overhead. Everything felt easy, from grabbing meals at the beachfront restaurant to organizing snorkeling trips right from the resort.

We joined a couple of snorkeling tours that took us to Turtle Point and Shark Point, where the water was so clear and full of life it almost felt unreal. Swimming alongside sea turtles and spotting blacktip reef sharks was a definite highlight for us. When we weren’t in the water, we’d stroll along the beach to nearby spots or just lie back in hammocks with a book. The Barat had just the right balance of comfort and simplicity, making it a place we’d return to in a heartbeat.
