Panoramic flower fields in Biei

Shikisai-no-Oka is a large flower garden in the middle of a field of high and low hills at the foot of Mt. Tokachidake. The best flower viewing season here is from July to September. This is when you can see a panoramic view of the flower fields as far as your eyes can see. Each plot has different types of flowers, and the colors are all beautiful.

To get here, the nearest train station is JR Bibaushi, but it is still more than half an hour away. Therefore, it is more convenient to ride a bicycle, rent a car, or take a taxi from Biei Station, the main station of the city. At the entrance, there are food and agricultural products sold here. If you want to try Hokkaido's famous sweet corn, you can buy it here.

Once you walk through the shop area into the garden, you can walk around the garden. However, because the garden is very large, it is a lot of fields. If you want to walk around the whole area, you need to be strong and have plenty of time. So here, there is a tractor bus service that takes you around the garden and stops to take pictures at various points. You can buy a ticket for the bus at a ticket machine near the entrance. When I went, the flowers were in full bloom, as expected. However, some of the fields were not fully grown and had been harvested. Overall, it was still very beautiful and impressive. If you go to Biei, you must stop by here.
