[Hungary/Budapest] Matthias Church, built in the 14th century

Visited Budapest in Jan 2025. There’s something magical about walking through the cobbled streets of Budapest, especially in the Castle District. The uneven stones, the old-world architecture, and the quiet charm of Buda make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different era. Around Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church, the cobblestones add so much character to the experience—even if they’re a bit of a challenge for your shoes.
The Pest side is a lot easier on the feet, with flatter streets and a more modern layout, but it doesn’t quite have the same storybook vibe. Just be prepared if you’re heading up to the Buda side—comfy shoes are a must, and dragging wheeled luggage can get tricky. Still, the charm more than makes up for it.
And the sunset is absolutely beautiful. The golden light spilling over the rooftops, the Danube glowing in the distance, and the city slowly lighting up made it feel like time had slowed down. It’s the kind of moment you want to bottle up and keep forever.
