🏰 A Morning in Malaysia’s Little France 🇫🇷🌿

#gentingtrip
Tucked away in the highlands of Bukit Tinggi, I found myself walking through a scene that felt like it belonged somewhere in eastern France—but with a twist of tropical mist. Colmar Tropicale, perched serenely in Berjaya Hills, is one of those places that toes the line between kitschy and charming… and somehow, it works.

The moment you enter, it’s like stepping onto a film set—timber-framed buildings, cobbled lanes, pastel walls, and balconies that bloom with potted flowers. It’s quirky, no doubt, but also strangely calming. I arrived early, just as the sun was warming up the rooftops and the air still held onto the coolness of dawn. That’s the sweet spot—before the crowds, before the cafés get busy, when you can hear your own footsteps echoing off the cobblestones.

Wandering solo through the village felt like being part of a postcard. I grabbed a coffee from a sleepy little café and just people-watched for a while—families arriving, couples posing for pictures, and the occasional lone wanderer like me, soaking in the whimsy.

A short walk away, there’s more to explore: a tranquil Japanese garden, a rabbit park for the kid in all of us, and walking paths that weave through misty hillsides. The air smells faintly of moss and earth, tinged with the sweetness of morning blooms.

Sure, some corners of Colmar feel a little weathered—a touch of peeling paint here, a slightly tired souvenir shop there—but that just adds to its dreamlike charm. Like a fairy tale book that’s been read and loved too many times.

No, it’s not France. But for a few hours, it didn’t matter.
